Full Text

Capture of a French Frigate.

A gentleman who arrived in Saturday's stage, mentions that the evening before he left Boston, letters had been received from New York, announcing that the Connecticut sloop of war had fell in with and captured the French 54 gun ship which Truxton had disabled.

In corroboration of the above, I have authority to mention that captain Brightman of this town, has just received a letter from a respectable gentleman in New London (Conn.) which informs that the Connecticut sloop of war, captain Tryon, fell in with the above French ship six days after Truxton's engagement with her, and captured her after two broadsides only, the Frenchman having been so much battered and exhausted in the previous engagement with the Constellation.
