NEW YORK (LPA)—The Textile Workers Union of America-CIO set major wage gain patterns for tens of thousands of cotton and rayon workers last week. The 18% pay boost for employees of the Big Dan River textile plants probably be extended to half a million southern textile workers.
Over 18,000 workers employed by the American Viscose Co. got a 16% boost thru their union.
Since V-J Day the union has chalked up more than 40c in pay boosts in an industry once among the worst paying in the nation.
