BOSTON. December 22.

The drawing-room regulations under the new administration seem to have been the subject of a good deal of speculation at Washington. The National Register has given a history of the drawing-room as it has been regulated under the several Presidents, since the establishment of the government, with some remarks on the propriety of deviating at the present time from the practice under the last administration. The resolution of Mrs. Monroe not to return visits, is said to have excited some sensation among the ladies of the metropolis. The present regulation is in substance this :--Mrs. Monroe is at home in the morning to receive the calls of visitors; and the President receives strangers and citizens between one and two only, but the heads of department and members of the government at all hours in the day.
