"Money problems are breaking up our marriage."
"We seem to be growing away from our children."
"Am I falling out of love with my husband?"
Do these sound like familiar problems? Perhaps so. But they are not in the least unusual. Hundreds more like them are all in the days work to most medical men, ministers, marriage counselors, and welfare agencies.
Pick up any leading national magazine and chances are there's a feature article on some aspect of marriage, sex, or family relations. Today it has become not only perfectly respectful to talk about even the most intimate of marriage problems, it has become a necessity.
We're not exactly a nation which can point too much pride at its marital statistics. But we are trying to do something about it.
Modern knowledge and research into the complex adjustments of family life has produced some very interesting and challenging ideas. Translated into action these ideas are helping to stabilize American marriage and may eventually turn the tables on our ascending divorce rate.
How, you may well ask, is this miracle to be accomplished?
Simply by advancing our knowledge of the mind and the emotions and passing it along to all who will listen and learn.
The Carver YMCA Marriage Clinic will meet each Thursday beginning April 4, and ending April 25. These popular sessions, led by highly qualified specialists in many fields, aim primarily toward open discussion of problems common to most marriages.
Specialists for this year's clinic will be Dr. John C. Fetzer, University of Miami; Father Elisha Clark, minister; Miss Ellen Tucker, case worker, Children Service Bureau; and Mrs. Estelle Sudnow, Jewish Family Service.
You do not necessarily have to have a problem to join the clinic discussions.
