SACRAMENTO, Cal., April 30.-The citizens of Monterey City gave the President a splendid reception today. On their arrival at Monterey the procession was met by a large delegation of school children who strewed their path with flowers and led the way to the school house where the public exercises were held. Mayor Hill, of Salinas, delivered an address and on behalf of the three cities presented the President with a solid silver card containing an engraving of the old custom house, where the first American flag was raised in 1846.
