Austrian Girls to Learn to Cook

Cookery had never been taught in Austrian schools until last September when the minister of education added it to the curriculum of all girls' schools under his control, both elementary and advanced. He further stipulated that any girl taking up modern languages or other extra subjects shall be compelled to include cookery in her school course. In order to carry out the innovation as cheaply as possible, restaurants are run in connection with the larger schools in populous centers.
