Full Text

The Road strewed with Dollars. While transporting some kegs of specie from Albany to Troy, one of the kegs was discovered to be nearly empty on the stage arriving at Castleton. "The inmates and folks of the house turned out en masse in search, and it was discovered with surprise, that the road glistened with dollars all along for four or five miles—each one gathered up what he could find that night.

At the dawn of day the search was renewed, and it was surely a novel sight to see male and female, old and young, with their baskets and checkered aprons scratching up the dollars, as they do chips. In short, the money was supposed to be nearly all found the next morning, and probably made its way on to its destined deposit.
