With cold weather approaching, local construction took an upswing in the past few weeks. Work is progressing rapidly on the new Mountain States Telephone building across from the Sidney Junior High.
Building permits and projects now underway in Sidney total $291,700, according to Waldemar Sorenson, building inspector.
The new Chevron gas station being put in Sidney by the California Oil Company is well on schedule. The station is directly across from the Sidney Junior High.
Continental Oil's new Conoco station is coming up on schedule. The station is across from the present Conoco station. There's still speculation as to the possible use of the old station site.
Monday morning the footings were being poured on the new City Hall and it is expected that the building will be on schedule.
Several new homes are under construction in Sidney or have recently been completed. Those listed by the building inspector are Gene LaLonde, James Peterson, Dolph Harris, Alfred Bahls and Art Waldo.
