PORTLAND, Oreg., Feb. 28—Now in its third year of existence, the Veledas, a group composed of married women in this city, has elected the following officers for the coming year:
Mesdames Shigeko Yokota, president; Kimi Kusunose, vice president; Shiz Hinatsu, secretary; Sue Wong, treasurer; and Sumie Tsunemitsu, historian. Mrs. Tana Marumoto was appointed program chairman.
Installation of the officers was at a dinner meeting in the Swedish Villa Smorgasbord with Mrs. Haru Ninomiya acting as toastmistress.
The club, affiliated with the YWCA, has Betty King as adviser. A membership drive is now under way with a membership tea to be held on Sunday, March 11, with Mesdames Ruth Namba and Lily Hongo as co-chairmen. Plans are also being made for a bazaar in April.
Next meeting for the Veledas will be on Wednesday, March 21, in the home of Mrs. T. Yamada.
All married women are invited to attend any of the group's meetings and socials.
