GAVE A VOCAL RECITAL.
Pupils of John T. Watkins Heard at
Powell's Music Store.
The pupils of John T. Watkins were
heard at Powell's music store last
evening in their first recital and the
large audience present was generous
in its praise of the work they have
accomplished in the year that they
have been under Mr. Watkins tuition.
Some of the city's best voices are
in Mr. Watkins' school and while displaying the results of their work under their talented tutor furnished a
pronounced treat to their audience.
The participants were Miss Julia
A. Donnelly, Miss Nellie R. Beamish,
Miss Teresa M. Hanaway, sopranos;
Miss Kathryn De Sales Gibbons, Miss
Anna Scanlon and Miss Mary Jordan,
contraltos; F. Buchman and J. C.
Wincke, tenors, and Harry Acker,
baritone.
Each was heard in solo
work and all joined in two part songs.
The Schubert quartette assisted.
Llewellyn Jones was accompanist.
The recital reflected great credit on
Mr. Watkins.
