Full Text

Extract of a letter from a gentleman in London to his friend in Rhode-Island.

"Perhaps it may give you pleasure to be informed that our friend Mr. Marchant has, in a great measure, succeeded in the business that brought him to England. I have no doubt myself, but that the money due to the colony of Rhode-Island from the government here, will be paid the next session of parliament, and which will be entirely owing to the assiduity and spirit with which he has conducted the affair. Had it not been for this, I am well informed from a friend of mine, connected with administration, it would have lain over without any settlement made, or grant issued.-However it had terminated, our friend has done the colony much honour."
