Community Nursing Association Formed

A group of interested citizens of Thomas and Davis met in the office of Senator A. L. Helmick October 8 to organize a community nursing association to give nursing service in Davis, Thomas, Pierce, Benbush, and Kempton. The work is being financed by Senator Helmick of the Blackwater Coal Company, The Davis Coal and Coke Company, The Cumberland Coal Company and by interested citizens of these communities, and a life insurance company. Miss Mamie Seibert, R. N., who has been nurse in that section since April, 1931, will carry on this new work. Miss Seibert graduated from St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore in 1924, and following experience in private duty nursing, industrial nursing in the National Enamel and Stamping company, the Baltimore Copper works, and Sonneborn's Clothing Factory, Baltimore, came to Davis.

As nurse for the Davis-Fairfax Nursing Association, Miss Seibert's services on a visiting basis will be available to all. Her hours are 8:00 to 4:30. Her telephone number is Davis 504.

The service is free to policyholders of the insurance company, industrial, intermediate and group, and to employees of the coal companies. There will be a charge for visits made to other people based on their ability to pay. All fees collected will go into the treasury to help give the service to those unable to pay.

The officers of the Davis-Fairfax Community nursing association are: Mr. E. L. Bailey, president; Mr. F. W. Cupp, vice-president; Mrs. T. E. Buntin, secretary; and Senator A. L. Helmick, treasurer.
