There is a Peace with Russia, but the other, which is the H. E. Divan is divided into Two Factions; one is for [the] most considerable, declares absolutely for carrying on the War with the utmost Vigour: In the mean Time the Grand Signior has ordered it to be signify'd to M. Dahm[an], that his Highness would be well pleased, if he went to the Army, and concerted an Expedient with the Grand Vizir for beginning a Negotiation.
Dec. 12. Baron Dahlman was lately exhorted by the Grand Signior to go to the Turkish Army; and 'tis said, that the Embassadors of the Maritime Powers would likewise be invited to go thither for the same Purpose. Nevertheless great Preparations for War are making all over this vast Empire.
