The severe gust of wind that we had on Tuesday the 6th instant, has done very great damage in different parts of the country, and is supposed to be the most violent, for the time it lasted, of any that ever blew in this country. Several valuable mills are entirely destroyed; on some plantations every house was blown down, and the fowls were carried up in the air considerable distance, and the wind was so violent in many places, as to lay prostrate every thing within its reach.
