We learn from Washington, that that city was visited with one of the most severe gales of wind experienced for many years. From various sources, we learn, that one of the windows of that part of the Capitol occupied by the House of Representatives, was blown out—both Flags carried away—a work. itolyard blown down; also a Methodist several carriages and a waggon load turned over—some houses, in the immediate vicinity of the Washington bridge, were unroofed, in one of which, a child lost its life of a chimney—part of the railing is also blown down.

We are happy to say, the violence was not felt. The wind blew fresh. No gale was experienced.
