Hunt Man In Wife Chase, Shoot Spree

A search was launched Tuesday for a 26-year-old man charged with discharging four bullets into an occupied dwelling after his former common-law wife refused to return home with him, police reported.

The wanted man was identified as David Carr, alias David Carr Ellington, 1152 Hunter Place. Mrs. Alma Foster, and her mother were listed as victims of the alleged shooting. Neither was injured.

Police said Carr came to a rear window at 226 Sampson St. N.E. where the women were living and asked his former wife to come with him.

She refused and asked him to leave the premise, reports showed.

Ptl. G. T. Ward and C. T. Dopson quoted the victim as saying Carr then asked if the woman's mother was with her. Her reply was yes, they said, and Carr shot through the window four times.

Two of the bullets tore through the ceiling above the bed, and two went into the wall about four feet over the bed.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m.
