Our latest Advices from Montreal are of the 14th inst. when the French army was returned from the Siege of Quebec: That they have Bread, Fish and Pigeons in Plenty, but no other Provision; that near all their Ammunition was expended, and the French in just such a Situation as we could wish: --That they daily sent out Scouts in Order to take a Prisoner to gain Intelligence of the Operations of our Army, but they returned unsuccessful, till about 10 Days since, when they took two Men near Crown Point, one of which they killed and scalped, and the other they carried to Montreal; that the Fields were planted before they went to attack Quebec, and since their Return the Inhabitants had Leave to go and take Care of the same, but were ordered to appear at an Hour's Warning with 8 Days Provisions, in Case of an Attack.
