POTATO
GROWER
REGRETS CLOUDS
Tuber Patch at Fifth and
Gold Has Some Nice
Vegetables, Though

"I wish we had experienced more
of this kind of weather this summer,"
said Fred Lamasrhe as he
dug potatoes under cloudless skies
and brilliant sunshine today. He
has cultivated a patch of tubers
on a vacant lot at Fifth and Gold
Streets.

"I have fine soil here for potatoes,"
he explained, "and the plants
have not been bothered with insect
pests. But the growing season was
cloudy, wet and comparatively cold.
I have only a third of a crop."

Nevertheless, they are nice appearing
potatoes; smooth and thin
skinned. They are not so large
as their cultivator would have them.
They are not big enough to bake;
just the size the housewife likes
to boil.
