Full Text

The Hartford City Election, for the choice of city officers, took place last week on Monday. The Van Buren party, flushed with their recent successes in the state, calculated upon an easy victory in Hartford. But they were sadly disappointed and mortified. Instead of electing all their officers, the Whigs elected the whole of their aldermen by an average majority, according to the Times, of 75, and all of their common council and other officers by nearly as great majorities. There was no choice of Mayor, and a new trial was to take place last Monday. We have not heard the result of the second meeting.
