AGRICULTURAL NOTES

The question that is now up for discussion among our farmers is: "Shall Marshall County have a County Agent?" It is the only way for this county to receive its share of the liberal appropriations that have been made by the state and the Federal Government. $1000.00 is available from the state for this work and in the neighborhood of $500.00 or $600.00 from the United States government. This sum will go to other counties unless this county takes action in the very near future. It did go to another county last year and it will again unless you people make your wants known to the county commissioners of Marshall county and to the University of Minnesota. Request has been sent out to all the farmers' clubs in the county, now ten in all, for them to take action and get back of this movement and push it to a completion, also to send representatives to a joint meeting to be held in Warren at the time of the Farmers' Short Course in March. Each club should send in three representatives to that joint meeting, March 10, 1915.

I trust that you will get busy on this and set the ball rolling. It is a progressive move in the right direction so why not get in line?

Harvey Nicholls, one of the Warren Corn Club boys, has won a special prize from the state, presented by H. L. Melgaard, Argyle, Minn. The prize is a pure bred Yorkshire pig. This will perhaps be the beginning of a fine herd of pure bred animals, for Harvey intends to start in right, he tells me. Norman Iverson, another of our Warren boys, has won a similar prize presented by A. C. Jones, Duluth, Minn. Now if these boys raise as fine pigs as they raised corn, and I have no doubts but what they will!, they will win the best prize that is to be won anywhere, the prize of success and mastery. Twenty boys have enrolled for the 1915 corn contest.
