A Nevada Rabbit Story

Ever since the late cold snap in Nevada the Indians there have been selling jack rabbits in great numbers and at low prices. It turns out that they have not shot them, but that the animals have been frozen to death. The Indians prod around in the snow for them and pick them up by the score frozen hard as stone. A hunter says that he saw hundreds of the little fellows huddled together in Kings canyon just after the blizzard, and was surprised that they should allow him to approach without stirring. He blazed away into the bunch, but the rabbits did not run, and when he came up to them he found that they were all frozen stiff. -Salt Lake Tribune.
