Hemp for Prison Binding Plant.

The first consignment of hemp to be manufactured into binding twine has been received at the penitentiary. It consisted of five carloads of hemp. The building in which the twine plant will be located is under roof and is fast reaching completion. It is believed the machinery will be installed and the plant in operation by April 1. The labor is to be done by convicts and the output of the plant sold to farmers only at the exact cost of production. This enterprise was created by a bill passed at the recent session of the legislature.
