In the Senate, however, on Thursday, the President's veto of the Patman bill was sustained, thus ending all immediate attempts at payment of veterans' bonus in greenbacks.
The powerful Legion lobby that has been working day and night at the Nation's capital for months, is trying to whip our legislators in line for another bonus drive. But the decisiveness of the Administration's victory leaves doubt as to whether the immediate payment plan can be revamped and again brought to life during the present session of Congress.
