JOHN OGLEVIE.
This gentleman seems to be a great eyesore to our neighbor.
All of his principal editorials last week were about him.
And what do you suppose, reader, was the cause of all this fomentation?
Why simply this: John is a great free soiler, and as the free soilers have no candidate for Prosecuting Attorney, he expects to vote for Mr. Lewton, as hundreds of other free soilers and whigs intend to, because as they say that he is the only man running for that office that is capable of filling it.
The whigs have made a poor nomination, and Hatton is afraid that he will be gloriously defeated.
Hence the spleen that he throws out in his last paper against John Oglevie.
We understand that somebody by the name of Massie, living somewhere in York township, Belmont county whom nobody, in this county, ever heard of before, has been nominated as the Locofoco candidate for Senator. – Republican.
And you will find out about the last of next week, that "somebody by the name of Massie," has been elected Senator from this District.
Mark that.
Hugh J. Jewett, Esq., is the Democratic nominee for Senator in Muskingum and Perry counties.
A good selection.
Col. James Collier who was indicted by the Grand Jury of California, was cleared on a writ of habeas corpus at Steubenville last week.
