Full Text

Sad complaints are made against the News Boys in Boston, and ten of them have been indicted in the Municipal Court. "Our worthy and efficient Mayor," says the Times, "commenced his crusade against the poor news boys." Some wag has let off the following squib at the Mayor, which another wag seizes upon and turns at another "sorty and efficient" Mayor, who takes upon himself to decide in certain cases, as it is and what is not for the political good of this city.

Little Toodlededoo was a dandy cock robin,
He was tied to his perch with a yard of blue ribbon.
And though that said tail warnt as big as a flea,
He thought it the handsomest tail that could be.

Little Toodlededoo was so proud of his tail,
That to show it the better he hopped on a rail.
When a hungry tom cat leaping over the wall
Swallowed up little Toodlededoo tail and all.

And especially this moral:
"Now all ye young bucks who are proud of your tail,
Although you don't fear 'em, the moral prevails,
Whenever you're bragging 'bout this thing or that,
Remember poor little Toodlededoo and the cat."
