From the Albany Evening Journal of Monday.
A fire broke out about half past four o'clock yesterday afternoon in the stables attached to the large hotel in Lansingburgh, known as the Rensselaer house. The flames soon extended to the main building and to a brewery belonging to Mr Parmelee, and thence spreading north and south, raged for three hours with great fury, destroying about thirty-five buildings. Consumed are the Rensselaer house, a fine brick hotel, with extensive stables, sheds, &c.; a large number of brick and wooden dwelling houses; a large brewery and soap factory; the printing office of the Lansingburgh Gazette; a dozen or more stores and nearly a score of workshops, sheds and out buildings of various kinds. The total amount of property destroyed or injured by fire cannot fall short of $45,000, on which there was insured about $15,000. The conflagration was checked about 7 o'clock, by the united exertions of the firemen of Lansingburgh, Waterford and Troy.
