Rev. A. B. Earle, the well-known evangelist, recently preached his 50th anniversary sermon in Tremont Temple, Boston, to an audience of nearly 2,000 persons. At the close of his discourse, which was a comparison of a revival with a harvest, he presented some statistics of his long ministry. His first sermon was preached November 13, 1830, from the words, "Lo, I am with you always." During his 50 years he has labored more or less with 22 denominations, holding 800 series of meetings in three of the British provinces and in all of the States except Florida and Colorado. During the 50 years he has preached 18,000 times, more than once a day on an average. He said he had never charged any specified sum for his services, but the voluntary gifts that have reached him have amounted to more than $3 for each sermon, or an average yearly income of $1,188. He said that he believed 150,000 people had been converted through his labors. Besides preaching 19,780 sermons he has attended 15,200 prayer meetings and has traveled 325,000 miles.
