SEATTLE, (AP) -- The cutter Storis sailed from Seattle late Friday on the Coast Guard's annual Bering Sea patrol.
The Storis will be on the patrol for four months, making calls along Alaska's western and northern shores and at the Pribilof and Aleutian Islands.
The summer patrol supplies Coast Guard stations, provides medical and dental care for the natives and acts as a floating federal court with jurisdiction over local cases.
The cutter Northwind, now on duty in the Atlantic, has made the patrol in previous years.
The Rev. Bernard R. Hubbard, Alaska's "Glacier Priest,"
will be a passenger aboard the Storis.
