Gruening Inspired By Hawaii Trip

Alaska's Governor said upon his return from his trip to Hawaii that the trip was extremely beneficial from the point of Statehood for the Territory. He said that he and the Governor of Hawaii were able to exchange ideas for the furtherance of their common aim of statehood for the two Pacific territories. He said that Hawaii's actions, thus far, are an inspiration to Alaska in its fight to gain equal status with the 48 States.

The Governor also was considerably impressed by the Naval Reserve Officers Corps training program which he witnessed onboard the battleship USS Iowa. The Iowa transported him and other visiting governors on their trip to Hawaii. On board were 600 members of the NROTC taking a training cruise.
