MONDAY, NOVEMBER 29
THE NEWS FROM THE ARMY
Is of a nature to perplex the most earnest enquirer after the truth. We have published it as received, but request our readers to receive it with some grains of allowance. The reported return of the army to winter quarters may be, as suggested in the Aurora, only a ruse-de-guerre. We confess, however, that the news appears to us to be too circumstantial to be entirely discredited. If true in all its parts, there is an enigma in the result of the campaign which the official accounts only can solve. We wait impatiently for more authentic information.
