On the 18th of July, the President of the National Assembly of France reported, that a courier extraordinary had arrived, who brought despatches from the department de l'Ardeche, giving an account of the discovery of a most horrid conspiracy to effect a counter-revolution—a large force was to be at Jales, in the Southern Provinces, where they were to commence the horrid scene, while the French emigrants and foreign troops were to invade France on the North. The Catholics were to rise against the Protestants; the Royalists, who are for the old monarchy, against the Patriots; and in short, the whole of the Southern Provinces was to become an immense burying ground. M. du Saillant, who was at the head of the conspiracy, with 57 principal characters, have been declared by the Assembly guilty of high treason, and ordered to be arrested.
