Full Text

SANDWICH ISLANDS. Dates to Oct. 27th reports the annexation was strong, and it is generally understood that the treaty of cession has been signed by the Ministry and only waits the signature of the Prince, who is absent.

The Galena Advertiser says:

The most important news by this arrival is that Kamehameha, King of the Sandwich Islands, had signed the treaty annexing his kingdom to the United States.

It appears that Liholiho, who had been at the head of the opposition, had also signed it. The only difficulty that remains to adjust is whether the Islands shall be admitted into the Union as a State or a Territory.
