Brutal Crime Revealed when Search Is Made for Two Missing
MADISONVILLE, Ky., Aug. 29 - Fred Russell, aged 20, has been found dead, and his fiancee, Miss Pauline de Armond, aged 16 years found nearby, brutally beaten and tied near the old Fair Grounds at Providence. The Police believe Russell was murdered and Miss de Armond attacked by robbers.
The young couple left Miss de Armond's uncle's home here last Wednesday. When they did not return, he began a search. The automobile was found near the Fair Grounds Friday morning.
Russell's body was found 300 yards away. He had been dead, it is believed, since Wednesday night.
The girl, unconscious, was found 75 yards away. She had been attacked, her jaw broken and hole knocked in her head. Her clothing had been virtually torn from her body. The ground showed indications of a hard struggle.
