Fred B. Smith, of New York, chairman of the American section of the World Alliance for International Friendship asserts that "while the common people of the world are crying for peace their leaders are preparing for war."

And it is probably true. The world's leaders, many of them, have been blind guides leading the blind. Greed and notoriety have swayed most of the leaders, and time and again the nations have fallen into the devastating sweep of war.

Mr. Smith sees hope for the future in "a new born church mobilized against war."

In this he is also correct, we believe. The trouble is that churches are militant, covetous, boastful, all too often. If the world would heed the voice of the lowly Nazarene peace would come. But will the world heed that voice? The teachings of Jesus have done much to decrease war. It is hoping too much to believe that some day the peace inspired by justice and mercy, strengthened by righteous living will come to bless mankind?

Christ is the cure, albeit there may be many remedies,
