MR. FENNO,
It ought to be known for the honor of Vermont, and the United States, that Mr. Lyon, the member of congress, of pitiable memory, is not a native American, but an imported patriot—He was born in Ireland and sold to the United States, for his passage hither But hold. Am I not too fast? Could the dishonor to a country, of having given birth to such a being, add to the disgrace of having elected him their representative?
However, Mr. Fenno, I wish you would let the fact be known; and I hope in justice to the national character of the United States, that all printers, both in America and elsewhere, into whose papers the filthy transaction of the last week found its way, will also in their papers give a place to the foregoing statement—
An admirer of the true American Character
