WILLIAMSBURG, November 27. A bill is brought into the Honourable the House of Burgesses for erecting a statue to his Majesty, as a grateful acknowledgement for repealing the Stamp-Act, and thereby restoring the rights and privileges of his American subjects; also an obelisk, to commemorate the services of those noble and worthy patriots that distinguished themselves in bringing about that happy event. This day it was determined in the Hon. House of Burgesses, by a large majority, that the office of treasurer of this colony shall be exercised by one person; and it was accordingly agreed that Robert Carter Nicholas, Esq; should be intrusted with that important department. It was voted also that the Speaker to that house shall have a salary of 500l. sterling a year.
