The Purport of a Letter received by the last Saturday's Mail, from Providence State of Rhode-Island, is--
That a Protest was signing, to be presented to the Assembly of that State, which are to meet at Providence this Week, impeaching the several States who have adopted the New Constitution, with treason.
Of the Conventions which have ratified the federal constitution, that of Massachusetts contained 355 members, 168 nays.
From hence it appears, that nearly two thirds of six states, which contains 1,187,000 taxable and representible inhabitants (as appears from the statement of the number of inhabitants in our last) have adopted the new constitution.
