The Nashville American of the 26th, says: Comptroller Gaines returned yesterday from a visit to New York with the committee of citizens. He says that quite a number of the names of prominent Tennessee bondholders were added to the list after the departure of Judge Whitworth from that city. He believes that five-sixths of the bondholders will accept the fifty cents proposition. Since his return he had found several letters addressed to him from creditors, one of whom held $50,000 in Tennessee bonds, proposing to accept the compromise.
