Full Text

The Minneapolis Tribune, a radical newspaper, and one of the most bitter revilers that assailed Andrew Johnson, speaks of the pending election in Tennessee as likely to result in the election of Senter. and enfranchisement. It then says:

Should they carry rebel enfranchisement some sixty thousand votes would be added to the democratic party, which would probably secure the election of Andrew Johnson to the senate in place of Fowler, whose term expires in 1871. There may be worse results than this. Andy would be a vast improvement over Fowler. He is fully as honest a man as Brownlow. The fact is the radical politicians in Tennessee at present are such a 'low down' set, that the choice between them and Andy is simply a choice of evils, with the advantage in point of ability and personal honesty decidedly in favor of the ex president.
