In New Orleans parish the whole Clay legislative ticket has been elected; the votes, so far as returns have been made, render it almost certain that the Clay candidate for governor is elected—he, Mr. Roman, has 2043 votes; the highest Jackson vote is 932. Three candidates ran against Mr. Roman, but the aggregate of their votes does not equal his.
Gen. Ripley, the Jackson candidate for Congress, has not been elected. Mr. White of New Orleans, has been re-elected without opposition.
[U. S. Gazette.
Louisiana Election.—In the second congressional district, the votes in four of the largest parishes stand for General Thomas, the Clay candidate, 236—for Gen'l Ripley, the Jackson candidate, 236. The parishes supposed to be favorable to Gen'l Ripley have not been heard from; but there can be but little doubt of the election of Gen'l Thomas. In the third district, the parish of St. Mary's gives for Judge Bullard, the Clay candidate, 127—for P. A. Rost, [Jackson] 80. We have before mentioned that Mr. Roman, the Clay candidate for Governor, will certainly be elected, and also E. D. White, Esq. the Clay candidate in the first congressional district.
