In an address before the independent fishermen Seattle, Delegate Sutherland declared that the newly-established fisheries reservation in Southwestern Alaska is a plot between the fish trust and U. S. Bureau of Fisheries to drive the small fishermen out of business. He declared that the reservation was formed under the pretext of conservation of the fish, but that it really will mean the total destruction of the industry within a few years. He particularly attacked the policy of the Bureau of Fisheries in permitting fish traps in rivers, while prohibiting seine fishermen from certain areas of the ocean.
