OUR SCHOOL PAGE
Bill Biffem, in his column in the Savannah Press, flings this one at Charlie Brown of the Cordele Dispatch: "Here we had been thinking that Charlie Brown of the Cordele Dispatch was just a plain Georgia Cracker. Now we find he is French. Else how come that 'La Petite Dispatch' section for school news in his paper?"—Albany Herald.
Well, that's letting us off lightly. To be called French for permitting the school boys and girls to run their page half French in name is not so bad. We are persistent enough to say that we are proud of our school page. We think many of those who work in this little corner of the world have an opportunity to learn a little of the great profession of journalism. And if they should never reach fame in that direction, we are quite sure that their efforts in "La Petite Dispatch" will help them to find ease of expression in writing and a larger working acquaintance with their own language—and may be French and other modern languages.
