Full Text

The brig Liverpool, Captain Logan, on her passage from Charleston, in lat. 28. saw a ship, polacre rigged, four leagues to windward of him, flying guns, and being full of men; she bore down on Captain Logan, firing many guns to bring him to; but he, not liking her appearance, made sail and got clear of her. She could not have been a vessel in distress on any account, the island of Providence being on her lee, but bore every mark of being a pirate; and if so, it is to be feared her depredations on defenceless vessels, may be great before any vessel of force comes up with her.
