In the Senate.—The Resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution, on the subject of the election of President and Vice President, having been made the special order for the day, was expected to constitute the leading subject of consideration. Mr. Van Buren, however, moved to postpone the subject until next Monday, to which, Mr. Benton, the chairman of the Committee assenting, it was accordingly so ordered. States, three millions of dollars for the purposes of Education and Internal Improvement, to be apportioned among the States and Territories according to the rate of direct taxation. The bill for the relief of Wilkins Tannehill, the bill for the relief of sundry citizens of Baltimore, and the bill authorizing the printing and distribution of the Infantry Tactics, among the Militia, severally had their third reading and passed. About an hour was passed in the consideration of Executive business.
