The trial of Jason Fairbanks, for the murder of Miss Eliza Fales, commenced before the Supreme Judicial Court, at Dedham, on Thursday last. On Friday a careful examination of the numerous witnesses in the cause was completed, the defence was supported by Messrs. Lowell and Otis, the prosecution by the Attorney General, the charge delivered from the bench and the cause submitted to jury at a late hour in the evening. On Saturday in the forenoon the jury brought in their verdict guilty, and the solemn sentence of death was passed on the prisoner by the Chief Justice.

No trial in our courts of Justice, has excited so much sympathy and horror; and nothing perhaps in history or fiction, exceeded the remarkable facts which gave it rise.
