SOUTH TO SERVE
LONG SENTENCES
Earl Shortridge and M. E. Anderson were taken south, aboard the North Sea last night to McNeil's Island Penitentiary, where they must serve two and five years respectively.
Also aboard the North Sea was Cyprien Doudanneau, of Sitka, who has been remanded to Morningside Sanitarium in Portland. Deputy Marshal Chris Christensen is taking the men southward, with Monte Snow serving as guard.
Shortridge was at liberty on a two years' suspended sentence for larceny of several hundred dollars last year, but his suspension was revoked by Federal Judge George F. Alexander recently after he made repeated court appearances on petty charges. Anderson was convicted of stealing $1,000 worth of Bremner Gold Mine stock and forging a name thereto. He is remembered for his efforts to promote a swimming pool in Juneau last year.
