Rancocas Stock Farm to be Sold

[Special to The Herald-Examiner Dispatch.]

New York, Jan. 29.-Rancocas star stock farm of the east is for sale, and the sires and matrons who have won for the American turf international fame will soon be divided among the highest bidders. It will be some months yet before the stock will be catalogued but the great farm near Jobstown, N. J. is awaiting a purchaser. This is news and will be a surprise to the turf, for it is only two years since Pierre Lorillard, its master, emerged after a retirement of many years. It was believed he would stay in the harness long, as last season he added many choice thoroughbreds to his stock and while not a great purchaser at the breaking up of the Belmont stud, was one of the most interested bidders. A reporter of the Press to-day learned that Julian Hall, real estate broker at No. 290, Broadway, had offered the stock farm to a very well known turf man for $250,000. Mr. Lorillard spent very nearly a million and a half on it.
