FROM ANOTHER CORRESPONDENT.

MR. EDITOR: Maj. Wheeler, candidate for Congress in this district, made a vigorous and telling speech in our court house this evening. His speech was replete with sound argument on the financial question now vexing the country, and was well received by all honest Republicans. I think he will carry the Republican vote of this county solid.

Gen. Dibrell's henchman, John M. Clementson, pretended to reply to Maj. Wheeler, but it was really no reply at all, consisting of one or two dirty anecdotes, a general arraignment of the Republican party for all the evils which afflict the country, except the yellow fever, and a splendid eulogy on the Constitution of the United States. It sounded strange to me to hear him say that the Democratic party had always been such worshipers of that sacred instrument, after it was known to all men that the Democratic party had fought for four long and bloody years to destroy the Constitution and Government of the United States.
