Charlie Meadow's Latest Exploit.
The following notice of Charlie Meadows, the well known Arizona cowboy who is now in the Australian colonies, with the Arizona Wild West show, appeared in a Queensland paper:
Charlie Meadows, the famous lasso thrower and horseman, who is here with Harmston's Wild West show, after having conquered everything in the equine line that has come in his way throughout America and Australia, has at last met with defeat from a Charters Towers moke.
The horse in question was a late purchase of Mr. Chick's, and of considerable local repute as a buck-jumper, and was selected for his suitability for the show purpose.
A large crowd assembled at the corner of Mary and King streets to witness the trial performance. The animal was apparently gentle while saddling, but when mounted he immediately commenced a contortion act that was almost indescribable, not only surprising the rider, but after a few vicious lunges dislodging him. Meadows was soon in the saddle again and showed the horsemanship of a centaur for a while, but was again compelled to relinquish his seat.
