Nabs Gamblers In Two Raids

ECORSE Twenty-four persons were hauled into Municipal Court as a result of two gambling raids staged by the Ecorse Police Department in the last few days, after both places had been under surveillance.

Three persons were snatched in a raid at 3998 Twelfth, where police found thirteen betting slips, 60 new number books and other digit paraphernalia.

The three arrested were Mildred, 38, and Annette Jones, 18, of the above address and Roy Chad, 24, of 3997 Thirteenth.

$50 fines were assessed against the women as operators, while Chad was fined $25 as a frequenter.

The big raid was pulled Sunday night at 368 Salliotte, where police arrested twenty-one. Robert Dalton, 40, of that address and Alex Dalton, 46, of 3942 Tenth were charged as the operators. They were released on bond after pleading not guilty.

The other 19 were released on bond to appear January 22nd, charged with frequenting a known gambling establishment.

Arrested were: Claude Monroe, Willie Gilbert, Omegar Jones, Jimmy Derry, Clyde Jones, Velmar Patrick, Horace Pujui, Golden Allen, Ernest Jackson, Ann Cladwell, Eugene M. Smith, Jake Bullard, Willis Lathom, Marcus Ephriam, Roosevelt Roland, Shirley Riggs, Reuevest Ogden, Cicero Thomas, and Clarence Noble Scott.
